how comps are scored

Every comp shows why it was picked

A keyword search finds names that share letters. Comps are names that share what buyers pay for. Each recorded sale is scored 0 to 100 against your name on the traits below.

reasons

Up to three plain reasons per comp, like same extension or shared word.

source

Every price links to the public report it was recorded in.

  1. 01Extension. .ai sells against .ai, .com against .com. Cross-extension comps count for less.
  2. 02Length and form. Characters, word count, plural or singular, digits and hyphens.
  3. 03Meaning. Words with related meaning count even when no letters overlap.
  4. 04Style. Exact match, brandable, two-word or acronym.
  5. 05Venue tier. Investor venue or end-user marketplace, priced apart.
  6. 06Recency. Newer sales weigh more than old ones.

Five kinds of names, five different markets

An exact match .com, a brandable and a three letter acronym trade on different logic. The comps stay inside the kind of name you are pricing. Real sales from the last year, click any name to see its comps.

the estimate

An estimate that shows its work

The range is built only from the comps above it. The rationale names them with their prices, so you can disagree with a comp and see what it does to the number.

likely value

$1,800

low $1,500high $2,300

fewer than 3 close sales

This estimate rests on 27 recorded sales close to crons.ai. The closest are crono.ai (1,632 USD, Namecheap, Apr 2025), cronx.com (1,459 USD, GoDaddy, Jul 2021), cronai.com (2,430 USD, DropCatch, Jan 2023) and clocks.ai (2,300 USD, Namecheap, Apr 2025). Weighted by relevance and recency, the middle half of these sales falls between 1,500 USD and 2,300 USD, with the likely price around 1,800 USD. Most of the close sales happened at expired auctions or investor venues, around 1,600 USD. task.ai (78,777 USD), cloud.ai (600,000 USD) and stack.ai (72,999 USD) are far from the other prices and do not move the range. Recorded sales start at 1,000 USD, so the range describes what the name can fetch when it sells, not a guaranteed offer.

  • Raises it. An end user whose product or company name matches "cron" is the buyer who pays the upper end, around 2,300 USD.
  • Raises it. Owning the matching .com or a strong startup extension alongside it makes the name easier to sell.
  • Lowers it. Selling to an investor or at an expired auction usually lands near 1,600 USD.
  • Lowers it. It is a plural, buyers usually prefer the singular cron.ai.

wholesale

What investors pay at expired auctions and investor venues. The usual price of a quick sale.

retail

What end users pay on marketplaces. Usually above wholesale, and shown only when at least three close sales happened there.

Questions buyers ask before they trust a number

Other appraisal sites gave my name five figures. Why is this range lower?
Automated appraisals return a number without the sales behind it. We show the recorded sales of names like yours, scored for similarity, and build the range only from those. If the comps sold for low four figures, the range says so, and you can open every sale to check it.
Where does the sales data come from?
From publicly reported domain sales of 1,000 USD and more, recorded in the NamePros daily sales reports. Every sale shows its venue, its date and a link to the report it came from. We never add a sale that was not reported.
What if there are no comps for my name?
The result says that no recorded comparable sale matches, widens the criteria and lowers the confidence label. When names like yours usually trade below 1,000 USD, the estimate says that instead of inventing a figure.
Is the estimate a certified appraisal or a guarantee?
No. It is a data backed range with the evidence attached. Wholesale prices (investor venues and expired auctions) and retail prices (end-user marketplaces) are shown separately because the same name sells for very different amounts in each.
Can I cancel or change plans?
Yes. Cancel any time in the billing page and access runs to the end of the paid period. Moving to a higher plan charges the difference right away. Payments are final, as described in the refund policy.
Do you have bulk appraisal and an API?
Bulk lists of up to 200 names come with Investor and up to 1,000 names with Broker. The REST API is part of Broker with 5,000 calls a month.
Will you see or sell my searches?
Searches are private to your workspace. They are never published, never sold and never used to register or bid on the names you look up.
